I took an interest in his film, “Ocean State,” when the trailer was submitted here. From the trailer alone, it looked like something that I might be interested in checking out. And, I was right.
Basically, this is a movie about facing our fears. We are all afraid of something. And, when that something comes to haunt us – we have two choices. Either we face our fears head on, or we run away trying to avoid our fears at all costs.
In most cases, many choose the latter and continue to fear the same things throughout life. Though, where does that leave us? Well, back in the same spot we started unable to move forward.
At it’s core, this is a movie about moving forward. Sometimes there are situations and experiences we face that cause us to stand still. What is standing in our way? To be honest, most times – it’s ourselves.
For me personally, I think this was a very heartfelt and touching movie we can all relate to. Though there were a few parts that were a bit slow, I think it had an important message and story to tell – one we can all recall at one point in our lives.
Overall, I think the film was put together very nicely for an indie filmmaker’s first run. The cinematography and the music came out quite well. And, I think – the characters introduced are ones we can all relate to.
If you’re on the lookout for an indie drama type of film, you may want to check this out.
Happy movie watching!
(Note: For those who are interested, feel free to check out the Ocean State website for more info about the movie. Thanks for watching!)
