Horrible Bosses (2011)

When I first saw the trailer to this movie, I was kind of up in the air about it. Sure, it looked funny. But, I just wasn’t sure if it was something I’d go out and see – it seemed a little “raunchy.”

Though, I was in search for a comedy type movie to watch one weekend. And, this was one of the few that was out.

So, I started to read the reviews (one being from my film blogging pal ReelTalker). To my surprise, they were actually positive. So, I decided to check it out – I’m glad I did.

From the trailer, you can pretty much guess what this movie is about. And, yes – many of the funny moments were showcased in it. But, not all.

To be honest, I don’t want to say much more about the plot as I don’t want to spoil it for those who have not seen the movie. Though, I will say this – even if the plot was not overly spectacular, it did make for some very good entertainment.

This is a movie that many of us can relate to – we’ve all had “horrible bosses.” And, the issue that comes up is – how do we cope with it? How do we deal with a “horrible boss?” We’ve all been there, we’ve all done that. And, some of us – are still there.

So, the question is – what do we do? Some try to ignore the issue and just deal with it. Others blow off steam and constantly talk about it. And, others (as in this movie) devise a plan to eliminate the problem. This is a film about dealing with this issue.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Though there were a few slow and predictable parts (via the trailer), I found myself entertained for the most part.

If you enjoy comedy type movies such as this one, you may want to check this out. It definitely has a bit of the same type of humor though a little bit more risque.

Happy movie watching!

(Note: For those who have seen the movie, I did enjoy it. Though, I still think this movie was funnier. I’ve heard some debates out there comparing the two. Thanks for reading!)

  1. the trailer does spoil some of th emovie’s funniest scenes (which is a common mistake advertisers make, but a catch 22 since it’s supposed to get folks to see the movie). i really liked it. didn’t tink it was as raunchy as folks were making it see. to be honest, i thought bridesmaids was way raunchier. i thought horrible bosses was pure, hilarious unadulerated fun.

Oh funny about Bridesmaids, I know what you’re talking about about being more “raunchier!” (though in a funny way too, I just couldn’t stop laughing during that one!) I’m thinking maybe folks were making this one to be more “raunchy” due to the trailer and the scenes shown. Glad you liked it! :)

  2. I thought this movie would be a lot of fun but I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to see it or not. I was just going to wait til it came out on TV or Netflix. :X

But I’ll definitely check it out. Great review, glad I find your reviews. :P

Hi Filmgurl, I might rent this one but it’s too raunchy for my taste to see on the big screen (not to mention the foul language!) I’m actually more interested to see this than Bridesmaid which you also like. On a side note, I’m sure I’ll be thanking God that I actually have a great boss after seeing this movie :D
