Bridesmaids (2011)

When I first saw the trailer to this film, I knew it was a movie I wanted to see. It seemed very entertaining and fun to watch. And, when I read my film blogging pal ReelTalker’s review – it just confirmed it.

Let me just say, this movie did not disappoint. From the very beginning, this film was all about the laughs. And, let me tell you – I laughed a lot.

(Note: For those of you who have seen the film, you’ll know what I’m talking about).

Both the cast and the script were brilliantly written and executed. Kristen Wiig (who played Annie Walker) and Maya Rudolph (who played Lillian Donovan) really did a good job in depicting their relationship as best friends forever. And, the rest of the cast of the film did a wonderful job. There were so many familiar faces and comedians!

This movie is definitely a lot like this film but the female version. There were lots of crazy moments and antics leading up to the big event. And, it kept me laughing and entertained the whole way through.

(Note: Being more of a girl type film, there are moments in the film where I think women can relate. It’s more of a film geared towards women – I do not know how well this film will be received by men).

At the very heart of it, this movie is about friendships – both the old and the new. And, sometimes – we fear that we may lose the friendships that we have as we grow up, as life changes. But, in the end – true friendships stand the test of time no matter what the situation.

Throughout life, we all have our ups and downs. Things don’t remain the same all the time. But, sometimes change can be a good thing. And, opening up the door to new friendships (as well as maintaining old friendships) can help us to cope with life and the situations we face.

Overall, I really enjoyed the film – it really kept me entertained the whole way through. Quite honestly, I don’t remember the last time I laughed so hard when watching a movie – it did not disappoint.

If you’re in the mood for a comedy type of film, I highly recommend this one.

Hi filmgurl, this movie wasn’t on my radar but after reading your review, I might rent it. Kristen Wiig was funny in Extract, but I don’t watch SNL that much to know about the other actresses’ work. Glad to see there is still a chick flick that is well-written and fun.
